About the Founder

Donna is a native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and saw a problem in the community.

Donna was born to a single mother and was exposed to mental health crisis, frequently throughout her childhood. At 17, Donna tragically lost her father, who was a music educator and business owner to gun violence. Despite these injustices and statistics, Donna never stopped dreaming and pursuing her right to live with purpose. While in college, Donna discovered her calling to music and began teaching herself the electric guitar. Shortly, she began playing shows in the local Milwaukee music scene. In 2022, Donna quit her prestigious job at an accounting firm in pursuit of purpose and her passion for music and social change. Donna founded Genisx, after noticing the lack of community programming for adults who are in transition and need connection and even more so a place for community healing. Due to this, Donna started Genisx, not thinking the range of impact it could have for those who are in search for purpose and meaning. Music and Wellness derives specifically from Donna's story as a musician and her desire to close the gap of mental health crisis in families and the greater community. With a vast vision, she hopes to make Genisx a proactive reference point for people to find connection with their inner self and their community through creative focused programming.

Our Impact

For the past three years, Genisx has created spaces where music and wellness come together to support reflection, connection, and personal growth.

Through programs like the Green Room Sessions and our Music & Wellness gatherings, artists and community members come together to experience live music, meaningful conversation, and moments of reflection that support mental wellbeing.

These gatherings show how powerful music can be—not just as entertainment, but as a tool for healing, expression, and community.
