Finding Better Tomorrows is building the Mobile Play Therapy Bus: a child-centered therapy room on wheels for schools and daycares across the Sioux Empire.

The need

1 in 5 children experience a mental health diagnosis. More children need care than ever, but there isn't enough space. Many schools and daycares have no private, consistent room for therapy, and in rural and underserved communities, play therapy is often unavailable altogether. When families have to travel to an office, transportation, time off work, and childcare for siblings all get in the way. Families are 10% more likely to miss or cancel an appointment, compounding the problem as appointments are weekly - biweekly.

Why play therapy?

Play is a child's natural language. Talk therapy asks kids to analyze and put words to feelings, a skill their brains haven't developed yet. The toys children choose, and how they use them, show what's happening in their lives. When therapists speak that language, children feel understood.

The solution: a play therapy room on wheels

Our purpose-built bus, one of only a few of its kind in the nation, brings both the play therapist and the therapy space directly to kids, wherever they already are. It will:

Reach rural and underserved areas where play therapy isn't available
Remove transportation barriers for families
Give sites without a private space a confidential, calming room for care
Run year-round, including summer
Bill sessions to insurance, with scholarships so no child is turned away because of cost

Every gift moves the bus closer to launch

The goal covers one-time build costs for the bus: the vehicle, interior, play therapy equipment, safety, licensing, and branding. Ongoing operating costs will be covered through billing, school and childcare partnerships, and continued philanthropy.
