This is a long-pose, uninstructed open session for drawing portraits from life. Anyone is welcome of any ability level and you can work in any non-toxic medium you choose. The model will sit clothed in one long pose for the entire session and take periodic breaks.

Please bring your own drawing materials which can include graphite, charcoal, pastels or watercolors. Drawing boards and easels will be available. Water-based oils and acrylics will be allowed. Solvent based oils are not permitted. It is suggested that artists using media that can leave a permanent stain bring a drop cloth. The artist is responsible for cleaning their area before leaving.

The Time is Now

Arts Iowa City’s ArtiFactory is a place to learn and practice the visual arts and fine crafts in a community of artisans that represent a broad spectrum of interests and abilities, a place that encourages cross-fertilization, and offers a multipurpose venue that can be used by artists from the community to connect, teach, and perform.

We are at a critical time in Iowa City’s history. We who live here have the opportunity, therefore the obligation, to design the best Iowa City for the 21st century, and beyond. Help fund this vision with a generous donation.
