For the first time in over five years, there is only one overnight emergency shelter in Missoula, and the Poverello Center is reaching capacity every night.

Without the Johnson Street Emergency Shelter, over 100 people will be without safe shelter. These people will turn either to the Poverello Center – which does not have capacity for that many additional people, or to the outdoors – which are increasingly regulated and unsafe to sleep in. Our Outreach Team is working harder than ever, with fewer resources, to reach everyone across the city.

With our capacity so limited, we need your support more than ever. This Giving Tuesday, you have an opportunity to sponsor a stay at the Poverello Center. For $75, you can give one person a night of shelter, which includes a hot dinner and a continental breakfast, the utilities it takes for their phone to charge and for them to take a shower, and the staff time to give them trauma-informed, supportive care.
