POWERHOUSE Residency is a sanctuary space for Black women and women of color writers, artists, and creatives to step away from the demands of everyday life and reconnect with themselves through solitude, nature, and rest.

Since our founding in 2022, we have welcomed 18 residents into our community. In 2026, we reached a major milestone: our biggest and most ambitious year yet.

This year, we:

• Received 63 residency applications, including submissions from as far away as Scotland
• Accepted 18 residents into our largest cohort ever
• Hosted our second in-person spring fundraiser, Sweet Thang
• Partnered with a nonprofit consultant to strengthen our organization through grant writing support and board development

As we look ahead to 2027, we're raising $20,400 to sustain and strengthen the work we've built together.

Your support will help us:

• Cover six months of operating expenses ($15,000), so we can continue providing a nurturing home for our residents
• Provide $300 stipends to each of our 18 residents ($5,400 total), ensuring artists have tangible support for their creative practice
