June is Pride Month and Immigrant Heritage Month, and we are taking it as an opportunity to celebrate the courage of LGBTQ+ immigrants.

Our clients work hard to rebuild their lives after fleeing violence and persecution due to their sexuality, gender identity, and/or HIV status.

Recent policy changes, misinformation, and harmful rhetoric have created more uncertainty, isolation, and danger for our communities.

In Fresno, the County Board of Supervisors has banned public libraries from celebrating Pride Month or participating in the Fresno Rainbow Pride Festival.
In the Bay Area, one of the San Francisco Immigration Courts has permanently closed, leaving thousands of asylum seekers to navigate a confusing system, often without proper guidance.
Exorbitant fees at the federal level have put asylum out of reach for many otherwise qualifying individuals.

In the face of all of this, Oasis continues to provide affirming legal and social services to low-income LGBTQ+ immigrants.

Over 50% of Oasis’ staff members are either immigrants themselves or come from immigrant families and 66% percent are members of the LGBTQ+ community. Because this work is personal to us, we walk alongside our clients and all LGBTQ+ immigrants who do not have a place to call their own, or the resources to thrive.

In the face of attacks attempting to erase us and break our spirits, we choose Pride.
