💔 6/8 WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THEIR LAST DAY! 💔

Prince and Princess, two senior Lab mixes estimated to be 9 and 10 years old, were surrendered to an overcrowded shelter operating beyond capacity. Their fate had already been decided because old black dogs aren’t as attractive as the young cute dogs.

After spending their entire lives together, they were separated upon arrival to the shelter. We couldn’t stop thinking about them.😔

We couldn’t bear the thought of them dying alone. So we said, “Prince and Princess belong at Roxy’s senior sanctuary.”

We busted them off of death row and brought them home!

While they are finally together again, the road ahead won’t be easy. Princess is in heartbreaking condition. Her toenails had grown so long they curled and became embedded. She has a large mass on her hind quarter that requires immediate veterinary attention, and she arrived with a severely swollen, bloody foot that is clearly causing her pain.

Despite everything they’ve been through, they are now decompressing side by side, exactly where they belong.

They will be seeing the vet this week and we are committed to giving them the care, comfort, and dignity they deserve.

As bonded seniors, it’s possible that Prince and Princess will spend the rest of their lives with us. We wouldn’t have it any other way. But their medical care, diagnostics, treatment, and nutritional needs will be significant.
