Expanding the propagation area will allow us to grow more plants for the general public. It will also allow us to continue to seek out rare and endangered plants for the arboretum.

Generally, many of these rarities are too small to plant right away and require a protected environment until their root systems are large enough to be put in the ground.

We currently have 8 propagation beds. We are looking to put in another 8 more beds, with additional shelving for containers and a work table area, so we don't have to work off the ground.

As an educational resource and a living textbook of the diversity of plants that can be grown in the Hudson Valley, we want to be able to provide visitors with exceptional and unique plants that they can grow in their own gardens, backyards, rooftops, and landscapes. We have a focus on propagating unusual edibles, as well as rare and under-cultivated plants that we feel are easy to maintain and that require little inputs.
