Our Story

In 1986, a bipartisan group of U.S. governors came together to tackle one of the era's most pressing environmental crises: acid rain. They created the Center for Clean Air Policy (CCAP), not as an ideological project, but as a practical one. Their goal was to build policies that work through a lasting coalition capable of achieving measurable results.

Forty years later, that founding spirit is more relevant than ever. CCAP has spent four decades working at the intersection of local, national and global climate policy, researching solutions, proving them out in the real world and sharing lessons learned so that best practices can be replicated around the world.

We don't take sides. We find sides that agree. In a world increasingly divided on climate issues, this is a rare and precious capability.

What We Do And Why It Matters

Climate policy does not implement itself. It takes trusted institutions, technical expertise, government partnerships and years of experience to move from ambition to action.
