Safe Parking LA programs were restored in the City’s proposed budget, but critical gaps remain.

Funding was not restored for our Veterans Safe Parking Program at the West LA VA campus or our Hollywood location. The Hollywood program has already closed, and the Veterans program remains at risk without additional community support. Unless we secure new funding, our Veterans site will close on September 30.

For people living in their vehicles, safe parking can mean the difference between stability and crisis. It provides a safe place to sleep while staying connected to work, healthcare, services, and pathways back to housing.

Safe parking works. It helps people stay safer, avoid deeper homelessness, and rebuild stability.

Donate to Help Protect Safe Parking

For years, safe parking programs across Los Angeles have faced shrinking public funding. Now, the Mayor’s proposed budget would eliminate all City funding for safe parking programs, while another Safe Parking LA site was left without replacement funding.

Without urgent community support, Safe Parking LA could lose nearly half its budget as early as July 1.

The impact would be immediate:

Safe parking sites forced to close
Over 100 safe parking spaces lost
Hundreds of people each year left without a safe place to stay

Safe parking gives people living in their vehicles a safe, legal place to sleep while staying connected to work, services, and pathways back to housing.

When safe parking disappears, people are pushed back into unsafe conditions with nowhere else to go.
