Women's Empowerment of RI - a Support Circle of the National Alliance of Domestic Violence Survivors (NADVS)

Our Mission

We are a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization based in Rhode Island and formed in 2024. Our mission is to provide long-term support networks that empower survivors and provide education to our local communities to create social change.

Our event this year, Purple Healing Hearts at Now or Never Art Hub is to be held on Saturday, October 24, from 2pm to 4pm, This year, we plan to have 60 attendees at the Purple Healing Hearts art show and fundraiser community event. With your support, this meaningful community gathering will help us to raise funds to support survivor expression, healing, and empowerment.

Programming

Our core program, Survivor Strength Support Circles, provides long-term, peer-led community support for domestic violence survivors who are now safe. These weekly, two-hour, in-person gatherings bring survivors together to heal and grow in community. Led by survivors for survivors, the circles incorporate affirmations, art, journaling, and music to foster understanding, safety, and belonging. We have held over 60 support circle meetings, and our survivor membership is growing with survivors joining from all over Rhode Island.

The National Alliance of Domestic Violence Survivors (NADVS) is a nationwide nonprofit based in Rhode Island that is led by and for survivors to support each other in navigating the long-term impacts of abuse.

We are survivors who lead standing in our individual power and collective solidarity. We envision that women who are victims and survivors of abuse feel supported and are treated as the experts in their own safety, their own lives, and as leaders in the movement to end domestic abuse.
