Story
Mental Health Clinicians of Color in Grand Rapids (MHCOCGR) was founded in 2019 by Rebecca Spann and a group of other founding members, including Janee Beville, Tashuna Hunt, Wesley Morgan, and Loanna Abreu. Our aim was to create a supportive network for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, Latino/a/x, and POC) mental health clinicians and professionals. We started by providing support to clinicians, and the work expanded into creating a directory to help BIPOC communities access BIPOC clinicians.
We are committed to making a significant impact and have set ambitious goals to propel our mission of "striving to provide culturally responsive and affirming mental health care for the (Black, Indigenous, Latino/a/x, and POC) community and mental health providers," even further. We aim to expand and make the clinician directory more accessible. We are also creating a membership platform that will foster collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and support among clinicians.
MHCOCGR recognizes that there is still much ground to cover. Our vision for a world where everyone can access the healing they need remains a work in progress.
We welcome you to participate in our crucial mission. By working together, we can strive to eliminate barriers for both BIPOC mental health professionals and community. We believe mental health assistance should accessible and fair for everyone. Regardless of the amount, your donation will have a direct impact on more people, bringing them closer to the healing they need. We appreciate the steadfast support of our amazing community, and we could not have accomplished our goals without the generosity of our funders and donors.
Your donation can make a tangible difference in the lives of those we serve. With your support, we can continue to provide culturally responsive and affirming mental health support and care for Black, Latino/a/x, Indigenous, and People of Color. Our journey towards a more inclusive and supportive mental health landscape for BIPOC communities has been inspiring, transformative, and ongoing. We thank you for your unwavering support and belief in our mission. Let's work together to make a positive difference and create a brighter tomorrow for those in need.
