Queer Artists & Players

QA&P is an all-volunteer, recreational, art and theatre organization for the queer/trans community in Boston.

We were founded in 2021 with two goals in mind--be queer, make art. We created a version of A Midsummer Night's Dream that we think the Bard would be proud of and weirdly turned on by.
Since then, QA&P has worked on many projects including several Shakes-queer plays and scenes, four Qabarets (with a Q!), two sketch comedy shows, two 48-hour One Act Festivals, and one musical with four chairs and a keyboard. We are looking forward to expanding our repertoire with a full-scale musical and our largest production yet!

Urinetown, the Musical is a satirical comedy musical which highlights and criticizes political structures that lead us to revolution. With music and lyrics by Mark Hollman and book and lyrics by Greg Kotis, QA&P presents this musical through a special arrangement with Musical Theatre International (MTI), with all authorized performance materials supplied by MTI.

To bring Urinetown, the Musical to Boston, we have to raise $10,000 which is a lot of pennies! You may be wondering if we're spending all this on a trip to Rio, but in fact we're spending it on:

$3,000 towards rent for the BCA Plaza Theater
$2,000 towards licensing the musical
$2,000 towards sound equipment
$2,900 towards costumes, props, set, and lighting
$100 for dozens of plungers
