Our Story

Pride brings visibility. But visibility does not pay for a binder, a packer, breast forms, or tape.

Trans people are under attack across the country, while many in our community are being priced out of the care that helps them feel safe, affirmed, and at home in their bodies.

With more than 500 anti-LGBTQ bills being tracked this year and trans people experiencing poverty at nearly twice the rate of non-LGBTQ people, direct care is not optional.

It is how we protect each other.

This Pride, we are raising $30,000 to move $150,000 worth of gender-affirming care directly to trans people.

Through our Build-A-Queer Kit program, we distribute free gender-affirming items like binders, pocketed bras, silicone breast forms, silicone packers, Gender Grip tape, and care essentials.

Each kit is valued at $100+. These items are designed by us, made for us and tested by trans bodies.

Recipients receive them for FREE.

Gender-affirming items are not "extras." They are tools that help people move through the world with more comfort, confidence, and ease.

Research backs up what our community already knows: access to gender-affirming clothing and items matters. The Trevor Project found that trans and nonbinary young people with access to binders, shapewear, and gender-affirming clothing reported lower rates of attempting suicide than those without access.

Since launching, The Queer Trans Project has distributed over $1.5 million worth of gender-affirming items across the United States. Every restock reminds us how urgent the need is. Thousands of people show up hoping to receive a kit, and demand continues to move faster than our capacity.

Research shows that social affirmation, including names, presentation, clothing, and support, is tied to better mental health outcomes for trans youth. Yet there are only about 301 LGBTQ community centers identified across nearly the entire U.S. That means millions of trans people are still navigating their gender without a local place to get basic affirming items. QTP ships that care directly to their door.

That is why our work matters.

Pride should be more than visibility.

Free Flights for Gender-Affirming Healthcare

We partner with allies to provide free flights for trans and nonbinary people seeking gender-affirming healthcare. This program removes geographic and financial barriers, ensuring individuals can access the care they need.
