Celebrate my Birthday by Supporting Brain Tumor Survivors

This year, I am celebrating my birthday with a purpose — by raising funds for the Raymond A. Wood Foundation, an organization close to my heart that supports brain tumor survivors and their families.

In 2022, my life took an unexpected turn when I was diagnosed with a pituitary tumor. My road to diagnosis was long, my symptoms and chronic headaches were written off as part of getting older. It wasn’t until I lost my peripheral vision that an MRI revealed the extent of the tumor. Thanks to an amazing neurosurgeon and team at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, my surgery was a complete success. I woke up with my vision fully restored and my daily headaches are gone, drastically improving my quality of life.

I know how fortunate I am, not every pituitary tumor patient has a clear path to diagnosis or recovery. Sometimes damage from the tumor is irreversible. After my experience I joined the board of the Raymond A. Wood Foundation to give back to an organization focused on hypothalamic-pituitary brain tumors.

Why the Raymond A. Wood Foundation?
The Raymond A. Wood Foundation (RAWF) provides resources, education, and support to patients and families affected by hypothalamic-pituitary brain tumors. These rare and complex tumors are often misdiagnosed or misunderstood, leading to delayed treatment and lifelonghealth challenges. RAWF works to improve outcomes through advocacy, research, and direct patient assistance. The foundation also works to challenge the idea that benign tumors are “fine” when even benign tumors can cause permanent damage and lifelong complications. To learn more about the Raymond A.
