Race for the underdogs 5K returns!

We are so excited to Race for the Underdogs again this year! Meet us at Lake Padden Park by 8:30 AM for a wonderful morning 5K run or walk to benefit our underdogs! We are a 100% volunteer organization so all funds raised will go directly to the dogs!

This year, funds raised will go directly toward helping cover veterinary expenses for dogs in our care. The past few months have been especially challenging as we have taken in several dogs with significant medical needs. We are committed to giving each of them the care they deserve, but the costs have added up quickly.

Our Parvo Puppies
We recently took in a sweet litter of five puppies who became critically ill with parvovirus. Their treatment cost more than $3,000, but all five survived! After everything they have been through, we are so excited that these little fighters will be joining us at the Race for the Underdogs.

Frederick
Frederick is a senior dog with a heartbreaking story. He was originally adopted from a shelter nearly 10 years ago. After his owner passed away, Frederick was neglected and eventually returned to the very same shelter as a senior in terrible condition. He was severely underweight and suffering from significant skin issues.

Our focus now is helping Frederick regain his health, heal his skin, and put much-needed weight back on. His veterinary care and continued treatments have already cost approximately $1,500, and his recovery is ongoing.

Hurley
Hurley is our paralyzed Frenchie who came to the rescue after his veteran owner began facing serious health challenges of his own. Hurley has undergone spinal surgery, and we are doing everything possible to help him regain strength and mobility.

He currently attends swim therapy and physical therapy as part of his rehabilitation. Our hope is that, with continued treatment and a lot of hard work, Hurley may someday regain the ability to walk again.

Gizmo
Gizmo is a sweet little Min Pin who has already had a difficult medical journey. He initially struggled with an upper respiratory infection, and during his care, we discovered that he has an enlarged heart.

We are continuing diagnostic testing to better understand his condition and determine what treatment he will need moving forward. Whatever the outcome, our goal is simple: to give Gizmo the best veterinary care possible and help him live his happiest, most comfortable life.

Every registration, donation, sponsorship, and dollar raised at this year's event will help us continue saying yes to dogs like Frederick, Hurley, Gizmo, and our five parvo survivors.
