It’s Autism Awareness Month. And here’s the ugly truth…the world isn’t built for us.

Sometimes autism doesn’t fit into the social mold of neat and tidy. Prim and proper.

Sometimes autism means being so overcome with joy that it appears to shoot out the tips of flapping hands and fingers. Loud, happy noises and nonsensical sounds fill the air!

Sometimes autism means being so overwhelmed with sights and sounds that your body betrays you and goes rogue. Impulse takes over intention and you flee, scream and do anything you can to make the world make sense again.

Sometimes it’s hard to go places and have the social experiences that you desperately want to have because of looks or stares or misunderstandings.

That’s why we started The Loop. Because we see you, just the way you are. We don’t want you to be anyone other than you. No judgement, no criticism…only love and friendship. Need to step out, leave early, have an extra set of eyes and hands? We are here, we got you. We welcome you.

Why? Because everyone needs friends.

At The Loop, our goal is to plan and host monthly events for teens and young adults on the autism spectrum or with other exceptionalities. We are a registered 501c3, non-profit that is 100% volunteer based. Every dollar we raise goes toward covering the cost of programs for our Loopers and their families.

We hope to raise enough money so that cost will never be an obstacle and our events will be free of charge. Our Loopers look forward to one day each month when they can be around friends that understand and support them.

We are creating a community. A village. Please help us raise funds to cover the cost of programming/events for the next 12 months, birthday club shirts for each Looper on their birthday month and administrative costs (website hosting, insurance, etc.).
