Twelve years ago, my dad — U.S. Army Major Vince Leone — sat at a kitchen table and started VetStarts with nothing but a belief: that no veteran should face tomorrow alone.

No building. No budget. No blueprint. Just a combat veteran who knew what it felt like to come home and not know what comes next — and refused to let that be the end of the story for anyone else.

Since 2014, VetStarts has walked alongside veterans, first responders, and their families through Warrior Art workshops, Halftime for Veterans coaching, Vietnam Strong peer Bible study, and Mission Builders. Every program 100% free. Every veteran treated like family. Every day measured one life, one family at a time.

We've done all of it without a home of our own.

We've held workshops on folding tables in borrowed spaces. Coached veterans over video because there was no room. Paid hundreds a month in storage instead of putting that money toward the people we serve. For the past couple years, we've been houseless — but never homeless in mission.

This year, on our 12th birthday, that changes.

Raise the Roof is our campaign to acquire land and build a permanent multi-bay facility — a Warrior Art studio, a coaching room, community space, and a front door that says to every veteran who walks through it: you belong here.
