Help us reach our goal of setting up 15 school chicken coops this year!

At Chickens.org (a program of Capax World, Inc., a 501(c)3 charity), we believe everyone should have access to fresh, healthy food.

That is why we started the Coops and Gardens Initiative—a comprehensive approach to improving food security and reducing barriers to education through community-based, hands-on learning.

We help schools set up their own chicken coops, gardens, and compost systems to:

Increase comprehension of school subjects.
Improve mental health.
Empower healthy lifestyles.
Prepare the next generation for future opportunities.

“I think is especially important for those living in cities [to raise chickens]… I use them to tie into lessons – for example, we learned about the strength of arches by standing on eggs, or about levers by balancing the chickens on our arms. They’re great for soft skills too, and a fantastic way of getting kids involved with nature, climate change and where our food comes from, which I think is especially important for those living in cities who might otherwise not get the opportunity to engage with nature.”
