Local news needs your support
From our family to yours:
We're here for you.
For 153 years we’ve been family owned and operated. The fourth and fifth generation family owners are committed to our community.
For 153 years our responsibility has been to provide you with trusted local news and we take that responsibility very seriously. Because we are financially challenged right now, we feel it is also our responsibility to ask you to help us help our community so that we can restore hours in our newsroom to provide more local trusted news.
COVID-19 hit all of us hard in mid-March. Really hard. Overnight, the Record-Journal lost more than 30% of our monthly revenue, and we expect that to continue for some time.
If you believe local news and information is critical, especially during this crisis, please donate to help us continue to provide more local news that our community needs right now more than ever. Every dollar raised goes directly to the Record-Journal newsroom to help pay for news resources to cover the impact of the virus on our local community.
Unfortunately, we’ve had to make difficult temporary changes to reduce our expenses, including full furloughs of some of our staff members and a reduction of hours for the rest of our team, with a goal of avoiding layoffs.
Our team has created the slogan #RJUnited because we know that the only way to make it through this is together. We wouldn’t want it any other way. Our employees are an extension of our family. A majority have been with us for more than 5 years, many 15, 20 and 25 years, and three for more than 40 years!
So right now, we’re asking you, our community, to donate or subscribe here to help us add back hours and bring back furloughed employees. All donations are tax deductible.
For 153 years we’ve been here for the community and you’ve been here for us. Thank you for continuing to support us so we can all get through this together!
