About Recovery Rocks the Panhandle

Recovery Rocks the Panhandle is a community art project designed to unite the Eastern Panhandle through creativity, connection, and community engagement during National Recovery Month.

This year, the event features two separate People's Choice competitions—one in Berkeley County and one in Jefferson County. The exact locations will be announced on our Facebook page prior to August 30th. https://www.facebook.com/share/19nC725MVu/

Participants will register, paint, and decorate their own rock, then place it at their selected county's designated display location. The rocks will remain on display throughout the month of September, giving community members the opportunity to view and vote for their favorites.

Each rock will be photographed and featured on the WDRI website and social media platforms, allowing the public to enjoy the artwork and participate in online voting. Community members may vote for their favorite rock for $1 per vote.

At the conclusion of the event, votes will be tallied separately for each county. The individual, family, nonprofit, organization, business, school, church, recovery group, or team receiving the most votes in each county will be recognized as the People's Choice Champion, while the entry receiving the second-highest number of votes will be recognized as the People's Choice Runner-Up.
