America's future is on the line — and this moment will define who holds power in 2026. The Constitution gives states the authority to run elections. Yet across the country, redistricting is being manipulated as a political weapon — an attempt to tilt the field before a single vote is cast. That’s not strategy. That’s pre-rigging democracy. Last week a new PAC called The Democracy and Justice PAC mailed thousands of Black Virginia Voters telling them to Vote No on Redistricting because it was Jim Crow. What's interesting is that many voters in the districts would have a Black Congress person for the first time! Political operatives are aware of the significant power of the Black vote. Their idea is, "If you can't stop it, cheat it and trick it!"

Our outreach just got a lot more urgent in light of these mailers. Phone calls and postcards are not enough; we need to buy 4x4 signs for rural areas where we can't canvass and back them up with immediate text messages reminding them that President Obama supports Virginia's Redistricting amendment in addition to many local leaders.

Door-to-door canvassing in low-income communities
Postcard outreach through trusted Black churches
Phone banks connecting directly with 475,000 Black voters across the Commonwealth

In 2020, Virginia worked to build a bipartisan redistricting process. But when national actors try to distort representation for political gain, we cannot stand down and hope fairness wins on its own.

Fair maps don’t defend themselves. Voters do. Misleading mailers telling Black voters that our temporary redistricting is Jim Crow must be countered.
