On March 7, 2024 we suffered a break in at The Re-Sole 206. I cannot begin to describe the hurt I felt when I opened my door and heard the news we had been broken into. With 26 pairs of customers shoes being taken, our cash register and our peace of mind. Its a small business owners worst nightmare.

The on site security footage shows the two suspects entering a neighboring storefront, through which they were able to access my shop by sawing a whole in our wall. They are then seen leaving the shop with a large black garbage bag that we can safely assume was filled with my customers belongings.

The police investigation was a dead end. We are conducting a private investigation to see to it that this case is solved and hopefully some of the items may be recovered.

We immediately removed the remaining merchandise from our store and required all customers to schedule their pick ups in advance. This has greatly impacted our workflow and order completion times.

I had to make over 20 phone calls to customers who had their items taken. I let them know how sorry I was and that we would reimburse for their losses accordingly. All were incredibly understanding. But some had items taken with irreplaceable sentimental value. It hurt me deeply to have to break that news.

We've suffered over $15,000 in immediate losses and even more in residual setbacks. The only way we can hope to recover is through your donations.

A donation today goes to several avenues of recouperation:

1 - Customer reimbursment of lost items - $12,000

2 - Customer refund of services not rendered - $5000

3 - security upgrades interior and exterior - $7000

4 - Expenses/ debt due to loss of business - $10,000 estimated.

We have taken necessary precautions in the shop and will continue to inact security measures over time. While the breakin has proven burdensome and will take us some time to recover from, we will continue to provide quality sneaker care services to our community. We are not going anywhere.

The Re-Sole 206 is solely run and operated by me, its founder, Takiyah TDUB Ward. This event has affected me deeply both personally and professionally. I put everything I have into opening this shop, so for this to happen only five months in has truly crushed me. While I am deeply saddened I know that we will recover and I am determined to see to it that we do. But we need your help.
