For transgender, nonbinary, and gender-diverse youth, gender-affirming care is ordinary, essential medicine- a visit, a lab draw, a prescription reviewed and renewed. What is not ordinary is how quickly it can vanish. A hospital program closes. A clinic stops offering it. Coverage ends. Treatment that was working has nowhere to continue.

The Relief & Equity Support for Patient-Centered Transcare (RESPCT) Fund exists so there is always somewhere to go.

How it works

RESPCT provides financial support for care for young people who have lost access or are about to: clinical visits, prescription management, lab work, and care coordination. Youth on Medicaid receive pro bono visits, labs, and coordination, at no cost to the family. Every other family can tell us they need help, self-reported, with no paperwork and no proving hardship, and choose a sliding-scale discount up to 75% off. Families decide what they can carry. Your gift covers the rest.

Why now

Cost has always been the barrier. This fall it gets steeper. On October 13, a new federal rule ends Medicaid and CHIP coverage of gender-affirming care for patients under 18 — and those are the youth whose care we cover in full. Many other families were never on Medicaid at all: insured but uncovered, underinsured, or paying cash, and stretching to keep treatment going all along.

Care rarely stops cleanly. Doses get spaced out. Labs get skipped. Appointments get postponed until things settle down. Months pass, and restarting is harder than continuing ever was.

What your gift does

It keeps a door open. A young person whose care has been interrupted can be seen, get the lab work that makes treatment safe, and have a prescription reviewed and renewed — without a family being asked to prove their need first.

What your gift covers

$70 a month- ongoing care coordination and quarterly visits for one youth
$100- a full round of lab work
$200- a visit with a gender-affirming care provider
