In the early morning hours of Friday April 10th, 2026, our community experienced a devastating fire at the Sacred Earth Lodge (SEL) our school, student housing, and kitchen — was severely damaged. This space has long been the heart of our campus, where students live, learn, and build their futures together.

The Sacred Earth Lodge is still standing—but after the fire, it’s not the space it once was.

It’s quiet in a way it’s not supposed to be.

This is the place where students gathered each day—learning, sharing meals, spending time together between classes and long days of work. It’s where conversations happened naturally, where people connected, where community took shape.

Now, the Sacred Earth Lodge is no longer a space students can safely return to.

For years, it has been the heart of the Red Cloud Renewable Energy Center. Not because of the structure itself, but because of what happens inside it. Meals shared. Stories told. People coming together, even for a short time, and leaving with something that stays with them.

For many, this space has been an introduction—to this community, to this land, and to Lakota values. It’s a place that leaves an impact long after people leave.

And now, it’s been deeply damaged.

That loss is hard to explain unless you’ve been here.

But what comes next matters.

The Sacred Earth Lodge needs to be rebuilt—not just so the building can be restored, but so the space can come back to life. So students can return, gather again, and continue what has been built here over the years.
