A Six-Week Campaign to Raise $10,000 for Our Kitchen Renovation!

Friends, there's no getting around it: facilities are expensive! They need constant upkeep. We devote resources (i.e. money) to improve and maintain the residency every year -- from smaller yearly purchases of new sheets and pillows, to larger improvements like replacing our furnaces with heat pumps last Fall... and everything in between.

This spring, we're focusing on a single room that has probably had the biggest emotional impact on two generations of artists and writers -- the KITCHEN.

We have begun renovations on our beloved 30 year-old kitchen in our founder Connie's original house with care and sensitivity. Here is what we're doing:

installing new custom white cabinets, built by Isaac Streit at Ithaca's Foster Custom Kitchens
installing new stone countertops from Ithaca's All Stone & Tile
refinishing the original butcher-block sections of the counter
refinishing the original oak wood floor by the Ecklund Brothers (outstanding local wood floor experts)
purchasing -- gasp! -- a new SubZero refrigerator. Would you believe our current SubZero fridge was purchased by our founder, Connie, when the house was built??

We're also thrilled to be working with Tim Merrick Construction as our general contractor. Tim is an artist and is well known in the area for his thoughtful renovation and woodworking skills.

Clearly, we're embarking on this journey no matter what, but it will so much easier with your help. We're reaching out to all who have lived and created and celebrated at Saltonstall, to those who have ever enjoyed a delicious meal from chefs Mandy, Denise, Judy, Eileen, Kuukua, or Dan, or prepared a meal for yourself during one of our residencies or throughout an off-season retreat, we humbly ask for your help in funding this effort.
