Wild Creative is partnering with Kukama Wildlife College and the Olienhout Game Preserve in South Africa to help document an inspiring rewilding transformation in modern conservation.

Once used primarily as cattle land, Olienhout is being restored into thriving wild habitat through active rewilding efforts focused on biodiversity, conservation education, ecosystem restoration, and the return of native wildlife species. One of the greatest goals of this initiative is helping bring white rhinos back to land they have not walked on in over 100 years.

Rewilding is one of the most important conservation efforts of our time. Across the planet, ecosystems are becoming fragmented, species are disappearing, and natural landscapes are increasingly disconnected from the wildlife that once shaped them. But rewilding offers hope. It shows that degraded land can recover, biodiversity can return, and humans can play an active role in restoring balance to the natural world.

Kukama and Olienhout represent a powerful example of what is possible when people choose restoration over exploitation. This is not just a conservation project — it is a living success story that we believe has the power to inspire similar efforts around the world. We need to rewild our planet, and one of the most powerful ways to inspire action is through storytelling.

Our expedition team will consist of photographers, filmmakers, writers, naturalists, and conservation storytellers working together to document as many plant and animal species across the preserve as possible. Through photography, filmmaking, podcasts, articles, species documentation, interviews, and citizen science efforts, we aim to help create a lasting archive of this landscape and its ecological recovery.

This initiative is about more than documenting wildlife. We will also help support and promote Kukama’s growing volunteer and conservation programs by creating educational and marketing content that spreads awareness, inspires action, and helps generate future support for boots-on-the-ground conservation work.

Our initial fundraising goal of $20,000 will help cover travel and logistical costs for a 10-person Wild Creative conservation storytelling team. Every additional dollar raised goes directly toward supporting white rhino rewilding efforts at Olienhout.
