The Kurt Caselli Foundation is bringing Racer Rescue to Glen Helen Raceway for a hands-on trailside trauma and first aid training — held in the Museum Barn on Friday, December 4, the day before the 13th Annual Kurt Caselli Ride Day.

We’re excited to welcome Kirk Raleigh, Tucker Hopkins, and Erik Miller of Racer Rescue. Kirk is a firefighter paramedic and off-road rider with firsthand experience responding to trail and desert emergencies — this is the real-world training riders don’t get anywhere else.

What you’ll learn:

Scene safety and rider-down assessment
Severe bleeding control and tourniquet use
Suspected spinal and head injury handling — including safe helmet removal
Fracture and dislocation stabilization in the field
Shock, heat, and dehydration response
Calling in and guiding emergency services from remote terrain

Please note: this class is focused on trailside trauma response and first aid/cpr. It does not include CPR certification — no certification card is issued for this session.

Why we do this

The Riders 1st Responders program was born out of a real moment that changed everything.

Pro racer Taylor Robert was competing at the King of the Motos race in Johnson Valley, CA when he suffered a serious crash. The next Pro rider to arrive stopped to help — but didn’t know what to do — so he raced off to find assistance. Race officials reached Taylor quickly, but the incident raised an important question:

What if every rider knew what to do in those critical first moments?

After the race, Taylor’s mom, Linda, reached out to The Kurt Caselli Foundation to ask if we offered first aid training for riders. That question became the spark that launched the Riders 1st Responders Safety Training Program.

Since 2017, 280 riders and off-road enthusiasts have trained through our Riders 1st Responders classes — empowering more people each year to act quickly and confidently when emergencies happen on or off the trail.

Our goal is simple: to make lifesaving knowledge accessible to every rider, volunteer, and off-road enthusiast. Because you never know when you’ll need it… until you do.
