Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Ohio mails kids one free book each month until his or her 5th birthday. Any child in Ohio between birth and age 5 can sign up for this free program. Here in Ashtabula County, over 3,100 children are registered! Thanks to the Imagination Library, over 37,000 books are sent to families right here in our community each year.

Reading together is one of the most important things a caregiver can do to prepare a child for future success. Dolly Parton's Imagination Library fosters a love of reading and impacts not only a child's willingness to learn, but also strengthens bonds between a child and their caregiver, builds self-esteem, and develops empathy.

This year, our guest speaker will be Camille Licate. Born and raised in Ashtabula County, Camille is an author, environmental educator, and founder of Kids for a Positive Change. She is also the She is the writer, producer, and host of the PBS show, Kids for Positive Change, airing on WQLN PBS, in Erie, PA. She will share her personal journey and how reading is an important part of our planet's future.

The Ashtabula County Community Action Agency serves as the local program partner for Ashtabula County and works locally to increase enrollment, make key connections, and fundraise to cover the local cost of the books and postage. Your support will enable Ashtabula County Community Action Agency to not only provide books to currently enrolled children, but to grow and reach new families across the county.
