Rise Up For Impact: When Girls Lead, Communities Rise

Every gift to this campaign does two things at once. It helps a new group of girls discover their own power through Shero's Rise and it does so because a group of dedicated high school student leaders chose to spend their summer learning how to change the world, then went out and did it.

About Shero's Rise

Shero's Rise empowers every girl, especially those in underserved communities, to lead with courage, confidence, and humanity. Through our free, evidence-based, research-backed Empowerment and Leadership Academy, girls discover their inner power and learn to RISE: for themselves, their communities, and the world around them.

We were founded on October 11, 2020, the International Day of the Girl, and since then we have empowered more than 600 girls and young women across Los Angeles. Women-founded and women-led, our team brings together decades of experience from women across many walks of life, most of them volunteers.

We meet girls at the most critical moment, when confidence is still forming. The need is urgent: 1 in 3 girls is struggling with anxiety, 1 in 4 is facing depression, and up to half report feeling persistently sad or hopeless. This isn't a phase. It's a generational crisis of confidence and we are changing it from the inside out.

Our work happens through a transformational 12 Pillar Program: a holistic, thoughtfully curated curriculum that begins with self-discovery and expands outward. We blend social-emotional development, experiential learning, and mentorship to help each girl awaken her inner strength and lead with authenticity. We call it strengthening her invisible cape woven from the power of her own story and voice.

The transformation is real and visible. A Shero often arrives unsure of herself. Over the course of a full year, she begins naming her strengths. She practices using her voice. She sees women around her leading with confidence and care and realizes: I can do that too. Every girl deserves to rise with courage, confidence, and purpose.

What is Rise Up For Impact?

Rise Up For Impact (RUI) is Shero's Rise's leadership and civic engagement program for high school students and it's the engine behind this campaign.

A select cohort of high school student leaders were chosen for an intensive experience in two phases. In the Leadership Training Phase, students learn the real skills of impact: strategic planning, building and leading a team, crafting a compelling pitch, marketing and communications, public speaking, professional outreach, and how to make a meaningful ask. They build resumes, develop their personal "why," and learn directly from women leaders and mentors who have done this work at the highest level.

Then comes the Fundraising Phase, where students put everything into practice. Each leader builds a team, sets a goal, and runs a real peer-to-peer fundraising campaign - the very pages and teams you see on this site - to raise the funds that send the next generation of girls through Shero's Rise.

These students aren't just raising money. They're living the mission. They're learning to lead with courage, confidence, and humanity, and discovering their own invisible capes in the process.

How the two connect

Shero's Rise and Rise Up For Impact are two expressions of the same belief: that when you lift up one girl, you lift up her entire community.

Shero's Rise empowers girls ages 8 to 18 to find their voice and own their power. Rise Up For Impact takes high school students one step further - handing them the tools, the platform, and the responsibility to create that empowerment for others. The girls these student leaders fund this summer may one day become Shero's Rise students themselves, or even future Rise Up For Impact leaders. That's the cycle this campaign sustains.
