25 Years of People Power!

After 25 years — thanks to supporters like you — we continue to organize tenants, immigrant workers, and young people to win dignified jobs and living wages for immigrant workers, fight displacement and secure housing affordability, and ensure a healthy environment for everyone.

This work takes trust, time, insight, and funds — and only you can help keep this organizing work centered in community. Because of you and your neighbors throughout the region, together we’re:

Supporting immigrant families and workers amidst ICE raids.
Advancing the fight for a farmworker living wage with our partners.
Organizing tenants to stop unfair evictions, negligent and abusive landlords, and reign in runaway rent hikes.
Holding polluters accountable and securing resources for community health.
Building year-round grassroots power in neighborhoods across our two counties and six cities in the region.

It’s been a long journey together. Along the way, our communities have won victories that show what’s possible when we organize and build power:

We helped push toward a clean energy future in our region, stopping the planned polluting Puente Power Plant and replacing it with plans for clean energy storage.
We organized alongside tenants throughout the region to fight unjust evictions, and win rent stabilization in Oxnard.
In Santa Barbara we’ve organized tenants for nearly 20 years, passing three different eviction protection ordinances, and helped create city programs from tenant mediation to an expanded right to legal counsel, culminating in this year’s temporary rent freeze.
We co-founded the 805UndocFund and 805 Immigrant Coalition, planting the seeds for one of the most effective rapid response networks in California.
We redrew the political boundaries to protect disenfranchised communities, helping win district elections throughout our region.
We centered an equitable community response in times of need. Whether during COVID, the Thomas Fire, or pesticide threats, our staff and base connected our communities with vital information and fought to create the protections and resources available to the public.

These victories are more than milestones. They are chapters in a story written by thousands of people who chose to stand up, speak out, and fight for something better.

They remind us that change doesn’t happen on its own. It happens when we organize, build power, and move together.
