Story

2 out of every 3 breast cancer survivors experience challenges relating to their body image after their diagnosis.

Breast Cancer Confidence Project, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that provides events and programs specifically designed for women to heal their body image and regain their sense of self-worth. Our goal is to reject the false belief that one’s beauty or femininity is changed by their disease. We carry out our mission by capturing empowering portraits of survivors, which are transformative for the individual and inspiring for the newly diagnosed & breast cancer community at large.

The organization has provided services to over a dozen women in the Rochester and Finger Lakes regions, and aims to triple their direct impact by December 2024. This goal will be accomplished through our annual Capturing Courage boudoir portrait events hosted each October, as well as our upcoming Embrace Your Body empowerment publication.

Beyond their local impact, Breast Cancer Confidence Project has touched the lives of hundreds of women worldwide through their online and social media presence. Survivors from across the globe - from Canada, the Netherlands, Russia, and Australia - have been inspired by the images, information, and positive messages shared by the organization.

Our content has helped women of all backgrounds, ages, and stages - during the vulnerable and uncertain times at diagnosis, and when insecurities have persisted long after treatment has ended.
