We can't predict when the next earthquake, windstorm, or major emergency will hit. But we do know this: in the first hours and days after a disaster, it won't be a government agency knocking on your door — it'll be your neighbors.

That's the idea behind the Roosevelt Emergency Hub. We're one node in a growing network of neighborhood hubs across greater Seattle, all built around a simple but powerful concept: designate a place where people already know to gather, and disaster response gets faster, safer, and more human.

An Emergency Hub is a pre-determined meeting point — a place where neighbors can find each other, share what they know, pool what they have, and start solving problems together while formal help is still on its way. It's low-tech, it's low-cost, and it works because it's built on relationships that already exist.

Right now, we're raising funds to strengthen the Roosevelt Hub: outfitting it with set-up gear and supplies, equipping it with communications and radio equipment, running trainings, and making sure every household in our area knows where to go and what to do when something happens.
