Story
Weeks after the onset of a historic blizzard, our community is still struggling to dig out after being hit with over 30 inches of snow and brutal winds. The storm left drifts as high as 20 feet and has overwhelmed the equipment of our responders. Hundreds of families were stranded without heat and power. Many depleted their emergency food supply or suffered frozen pipes and lacked drinking water. Making matters worse, wind chills of -50F swept into the area just a few days later.
Compounding the challenge is Rosebud's extreme rural setting. The estimated 20,000 residents live spread across a land base larger than Rhode Island. Lacking the equipment to deal with this unprecedented storm, our community has been relying heavily on volunteer efforts.
Your donation will support the emergency response to these blizzards. Tribal officials are actively working with FEMA, but their support will not cover all of the costs to meet the needs of our community members.
