We believe that the ocean is a vital shared resource that needs protecting.

We are Rozalia Project for a clean ocean. Since 2009, Rozalia Project has been working to clean and protect the ocean and conserve a healthy, thriving marine ecosystem. Through data cleanups, solutions-based research, innovation, and engaging STEM programs, we are tackling one of the ocean's greatest threats, marine debris.

From May through October, we lead expeditions aboard our 60-foot sailing research vessel, American Promise, in the Gulf of Maine. This region is being adversely impacted by marine debris and is of ecological, economic, and cultural importance. Most recently, we have been conducting large-scale data-driven cleanups, visiting remote islands aboard American Promise, and removing debris from the shorelines. We also conduct ongoing expedition research on Microfiber pollution that has taken us from the Arctic to Antarctica and beyond. In addition, our team delivers marine debris education and outreach programs throughout New England, including our home state of Vermont.

With each cleanup, we record everything we pick up, piece by piece, because it is that data that tells the story - one that tells us we are up against a big problem. A story that tells us we need to continue this work, share this data, and seek solutions.

This summer season alone, we recovered 25,211lbs of debris from the shores of 12 islands at 34 cleanup locations.

This outstanding achievement is made possible through collaboration. Teamwork is the driving force behind every successful cleanup effort. When our volunteer crew comes together — each person contributing their time, energy, and unique strengths — the impact multiplies far beyond what any individual could achieve alone.
