The Mu Chapter of Alpha Phi Omega at Indiana University has had a long tradition of conducting a spring service project that gives back to our community and develops these pillars in our chapter and campus. Alpha Phi Omega is a national co-ed service fraternity dedicated to the pillars of leadership, friendship, and service. In the spring, we hold an event called the Rubber Duck Race. This year, it will be April 13, 2024 12-3 PM, in Dunn Meadow in Bloomington, IN. At this race, donors can purchase a rubber duck for one dollar to be thrown into the Campus River by the Indiana Memorial Union. Donors can also buy raffle tickets for the chance to win gift baskets that support local businesses. We additionally have food and tables for local student and community organizations to do outreach, as well as merch for sale.

In 2024, all funds raised will go directly to youth education and empowerment, specifically to three local organizations; Teacher’s Warehouse, the Monroe County Community School Foundation, and the Boys and Girls Club of Bloomington. After a successful fundraising gala this past semester, we are halfway to our goal of $3,000. We are hoping that by opening the opportunity to the larger IU and Bloomington community, we can engage citizens and students in the cause of youth empowerment. Name your duck family with an additional $2 donation at the race.
Raffle tickets can also be purchased at the race for $3.
After you donate, an email will be sent to you reminding you of the race date and the total amount of duck(s) and raffle tickets you have purchased (if applicable)
- If you have purchased any raffle tickets, you can receive them at registration and can then allocate them to the baskets of your liking
- If you are not able to show up to the race but still want to receive your raffle ticket, you may indicate a person to claim your tickets for you at the race. To indicate this, please reply email the race coordinator, Gie Wilson at gie.wilson925@gmail.com with the corresponding information.
- We are doing this to ensure that racing will be financially accessible and to give every donor a fair chance.
- If your duck wins and you are not at the race, you will be notified afterward via email.
