ABOUT THIS EVENT

Our goal this year is to raise $35,000, surpassing last year's inaugural total of $31,400. This will enable us to enhance the support we provide to Heart Failure patients. To achieve this, we encourage each participant, whether running or walking, to *try* to raise $300. (This can be achieved by having 10 friends or family members each contribute just $30 towards your miles or steps.)

*NEW THIS YEAR: Every participant raising $1K+ will get a branded HeartBrothers hat for the walk. Teams will also receive 1 hat for every $1K raised.

HOW TO CROSS THE FINISH LINE

Capture a screenshot with your smartphone displaying the distance you tracked using one of the listed apps (or another of your preference) and share it on social media using the hashtags #heartbrothers5K & #heartfailureawareness to formally "cross the finish line". We also encourage you to snap photos while "out on the course" and email them in real-time to team@lalonemarketing.com.

WHO WE ARE & WHY WE'RE HERE

Our co-founders, Pat Sullivan & Bob Romer, forged their bond during yearlong hospital stays on LVADs. They pledged that if their heart matches arose, and if their bodies could withstand the wait, procedure, and recovery, they would establish a nonprofit foundation to address the glaring absence of financial, educational, and emotional support crucially needed by Heart Failure patients and their families.

In September 2014, the HeartBrothers Foundation launched, and since then, it has extended its impact to collaborate with more than 40 hospitals. Supported by 80+ volunteer ambassadors and offering virtual programming accessible to all, we have evolved into a vibrant Heart Failure support network in every sense of the phrase. Our commitment to enhance and broaden our services only intensifies with each passing day.

Currently, 6.7 million Americans are living with Heart Failure, and 3,500 are awaiting a heart transplant. The typical wait for a new heart spans six months or longer, during which many patients are hospitalized with an LVAD. Their loved ones often travel great distances to support and oversee their care. Families are deeply affected by this emotional and physical journey, often burdened by substantial debt. At the HeartBrothers Foundation, we intimately understand this ordeal firsthand: we are Heart Failure and heart transplant survivors.
