The challenges veterans face extend beyond the psychological effects of combat. The transition from a highly structured military environment to civilian life can affect a veteran’s sense of purpose, belonging, identity, and responsibility.

Retired Col. Dr. Kathy Platoni will discuss concerns veterans may experience, including post-traumatic stress symptoms, depression, anxiety, substance use, traumatic brain injury, chronic pain, sleep disturbances, and other challenges associated with military service and the transition home.
