The Vegan Museum is kicking off the new year with a special event. We’ll screen a thought-provoking short film and discuss the powerful connection between veganism and environmental sustainability.

One of the hardest parts about becoming or staying vegan is navigating the social aspect, whether it's struggling with family members and friends who aren't accepting, finding places to eat together, or simply feeling isolated when loved ones don't share the same dedication to their health, the environment, and animal welfare as we do. That's why, for the Vegan Museum's first event of 2025, we're proud to hold our first ever Vegan Social! Whether you're going plant-based as your New Year's resolution, or you're a long-time vegan, join us for a fun afternoon of activities, ice breakers, and vegan food. Mina Patel from The Republic of Kindness will facilitate an interactive conversation to build a stronger vegan network.

Meet new friends, watch and discuss a vegan short film, and learn more about Chicago's vibrant vegan community at the Bucktown-Wicker Park Library, on February 1st at 2:00pm!

As the world’s first Vegan Museum, we opened on February 1, 2017 in efforts to address historical gaps in knowledge and resources within the vegan and vegetarian communities. Currently, the museum consists of 12 large panels, which guide the viewer through vegan history, fun facts, and a wide range of vehicles towards a vegan lifestyle.

Our mission is to relentlessly discover and share this amazing, ongoing, and historical movement. Whether it is for the environment, our health or animal well-being, there are so many ways to leave a softer footprint on this earth.

Over 50 Chicago institutions have displayed our museum. We have impacted thousands of individuals with over 60 inspiring programs including food demos, documentary films, panel discussions, story map presentations and children’s events.

Museum walk-throughs and events are generally free to the public; however, donations towards the continuation of our programming are always welcome and, most importantly, appreciated! We invite you to join us in exploring veganism across time and culture.
