Since our establishment in 2019, our mission has been to rescue and rehabilitate homeless animals, provide them with the medical attention they need, and find them loving homes.

We rescue hundreds of homeless animals every year, primarily from our local communities in south Florida. We believe that our work serves a vital role in ensuring the welfare of these animals while fostering a deep sense of compassion within our community.

We use our resources and expertise to improve the lives of these furry companions by offering them a second chance at happiness through rehabilitation and adoption programs. Here are just a couple of our rescue stories from 2023

Emmett

Emmett joined our rescue after being under the care of another organization that had already determined he had feline infectious peritonitis (FIP), but had not started life-saving treatment with the drug known as "GS". For those unfamiliar with rescue practices, it's crucial to initiate GS treatment promptly upon diagnosing FIP in a cat, ideally on the same day. Swift intervention significantly improves the cat's chances of recovery. Many rescuers keep emergency vials of GS on hand for such situations.

In Emmett's case, the delay in treatment had severe consequences. His eyes had swollen to an alarming extent, causing him immense discomfort and leading to the loss of vision. Emmett's battle with FIP was so severe that continuous consultations with his eye specialist were necessary to determine the optimal time for eye removal surgery to alleviate his suffering.

Fortunately, Emmett underwent the surgery and is now nearing the end of his observation period after completing an 84-day course of GS. Soon, he will soon be available for adoption, having overcome the challenges posed by FIP.

Gavin

Gavin was brought to us from a previous colony we've assiste. He arrived to the feeder recently with a severe leg injury. Upon examination, we discovered that his leg was majorly fractured in two places, rendering it irreparable. The consensus among our veterinary team was that amputation was the most compassionate option for Gavin.

Despite the unfortunate circumstances, Gavin's sweet and friendly nature has endured, making him a resilient and lovable presence. Gavin has undergone surgery and is recovering so well. He is on his way to a foster-to-adopt home, with adoption depending on how he and the resident tripod kitty get along.

Xena

While out walking the dogs, our director, Liz, heard a loud whimpering sound coming from outside of the park. Liz's ears perked up and she raced over wto where she discovered Xena, cowering in fear and pain, while an enraged man threw glass bottles and rocks at her.

Liz and some compassionate men working next door were able to chase the violent man away. Liz ran the dogs home and raced back with her car. When she got back, poor Xena was laying defeated and confused next to an open bag of dog food and garbage. Liz was able to safely coax Xena into her car with some food and into safety.

Upon closer inspection, it was clear that Xena had been subjected to long-term neglect; she was emaciated and was suffering with hip displasia. If that wasn't bad enough she also suffered from dermatitis that had ravaged her ears, back, and tail, her nails were overgrown, and she smelled like she spent her whole life outdoors, without a bath.

Xena gained weight and was cleaned up and received all the care she needed and was adopted into a loving home.
