In the Democratic Republic of Congo, the UN documented more than 80,000 cases of rape in just the first nine months of 2025. In Sudan, sexual violence has become “embedded in the blueprint of war.” Behind every statistic is a survivor navigating what comes next.

Every day, women and girls survive violence, displacement, and conflict. Many are told that support exists. But too often, accessing that support means confronting stigma, fear, fragmented systems, and institutional barriers that make recovery harder than it should be.

Surviving violence should not be the beginning of another struggle. But for millions of women and girls, it is.

Through the Safe Survivor Initiative, Posterity International is working to address one of the most overlooked challenges in survivor protection: ensuring that support is not only available, but safely accessible.

In partnership with Focus Congo and the Sudan Humanitarian Foundation, we are launching pilot programs in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Sudan designed to reduce barriers to care and expand access to psychosocial support, medical services, economic opportunities, and community-based recovery for internally displaced Congolese women and Sudanese refugee women and girls.
