I m so proud to show our brand new shelter videos. All of construction projects turned out so great. Our rescuers and pups are totally enjoying new facilities. They are able to help more dogs much effectively.
We have 2 partner shelters in Hyderabad India currently. Petluck Animal Rehabilitation center and Breath foster home. Petluck is existing shelter which had just 1 covered shed. We added 35 kennels, added 2 container homes (for office, manager room, dog recovery room, staff living quarters, overnight stay if manager needs), expanded covered area. Breath foster home is brand new, built from ground. We have 25 kennels, 3 indoor rooms made of Kirby iron sheets, 1 staff living head quarters and 1 container home (for office room, volunteer waiting room and for overnight stay).
Before construction there was barely one open shady area and thats all. It was hard to keep medically needy dogs, recovering dogs separate and safe. While recovering before sterilizing we could not keep male female separated. Only way was to keep them in small crates all day. We had to keep contagious disease dogs in crates. We had no smooth flooring for paralyzed dogs. They used drag in hard mud floor and hurt their paws.
There was no place for shelter management to sit or relax or eat. No bathrooms. No place to give pups bath. We were in need of staff but we could not retain them. We could not invite volunteers because all dogs are loose. New shelter and was planned to solve all these problems. We also wanted an open area for dogs to walk, run and play. We have a few pending items. We are yet to build a covered open area with sand for paralyzed/disabled. We have a room dedicated for them. But they escape and keep dragging because they want to go out, look at other pups, play.
