Santa Cruz has always had an incredible music scene — filled with talent, creativity, and independent spirit. What’s often missing isn’t passion, but access: access to mentorship, collaboration, and opportunities that help musicians grow beyond the local stage.

Legends: Live & Local was created to change that.

Through this series, we bring iconic musicians to Santa Cruz to mentor, rehearse, and perform alongside local artists. These are intimate, community-driven experiences that focus on learning, collaboration, and celebrating the music that makes this place special.

New Music January has always been about spotlighting Santa Cruz musicians and sharing new work with a wider audience. This year, we’re using that momentum to help fund Legends: Live & Local and make these mentorship-focused events possible in 2026.
