Every Care Package Starts with Someone Who Cares

My name is Mekayla Baliles, General Manager of Tevatan and Chair of Sarasota Salutes, a community initiative proudly partnering with Sarasota Military Academy.

This mission began when my brother was deployed overseas in response to the conflict involving Israel and Iran. When I asked what he wanted in a care package, his response surprised me. Instead of asking for himself, he asked me to include extra supplies for fellow service members who weren't receiving care packages or didn't have anyone back home to send one.

That simple request inspired Sarasota Salutes.

Our mission is to bring the Sarasota community together to send care packages to local service members deployed overseas—and, whenever possible, provide extra supplies for those serving beside them.

Our campaign has two simple phases:

Phase 1: Raise funds for shipping. Each care package costs approximately $33 to mail overseas.
Phase 2: Collect requested supplies, including hygiene items, seasonings, snacks, headphones, puzzle books, and other comforts from home.

Every donation helps remind our deployed heroes that they are remembered, appreciated, and supported by their hometown.
