Summer of Second Chances

Every animal deserves a second chance. Now our shelter needs one, too.

Saving Lives. Rebuilding Hope.

CARE STL has always been a place of second chances.

Every day, animals arrive at our doors lost, abandoned, injured, frightened, or simply with nowhere else to go. As St. Louis City’s open-admission animal shelter, we are here for them...providing safety, medical care, compassion, and a path toward home.

Now, we’re asking our community to help secure the future of that work.

Summer of Second Chances is a community campaign focused not only on helping the animals who need us today, but on building a stronger, more sustainable CARE STL for the thousands of animals who will need us in the years ahead.

Your support helps provide:

❤️ Lifesaving Medical Care
Treatment, medications, surgeries, diagnostics, and recovery support for animals who arrive sick, injured, or in crisis.

🐾 Daily Care for Shelter Animals
Food, enrichment, clean and comfortable spaces, and compassionate care for every animal waiting for their next chance.

🏡 More Paths Home
Adoption, foster, and community programs that help animals leave the shelter and find the families they’ve been waiting for.

👥 Support for the People Doing the Work
Resources for the staff and volunteers who care for our animals and support our community every day.

🐶 A Stronger Future for CARE STL
Investments in our shelter, programs, systems, and resources so we can continue improving the care and outcomes we provide to animals and families throughout St. Louis.

Second chances happen because people choose to be part of them.

They happen when someone fosters a scared dog who needs a quiet place to decompress.

When an adopter sees a long-stay pet and decides it’s finally their turn to go home.

When a volunteer gives their time.

When a donor helps cover unexpected medical care.

When a business steps forward as a community partner.

And when an entire community decides that the future of its animals matters.

Throughout this campaign, we’ll share the stories behind those second chances...the animals healing, the families being created, the people doing this work every day, and the impact your support is already making.

Every gift helps save lives today while rebuilding hope for tomorrow.

Join us for a Summer of Second Chances and help secure the future of CARE STL.

Together, we can make sure there is always somewhere for St. Louis’ animals to turn when they need a second chance.
