Seattle SCORES Community Breakfast
Inside the Room: Seattle's Women's Sports Leaders, Unfiltered
The Road to the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup

Women's sports in Seattle, and across the country, are having a moment, and the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup is about to put the world's eyes on the women's beautiful game. Before that spotlight hits, we're bringing together the women who built this moment for an honest, off-script conversation over breakfast. No broadcast, no press release, just the real story.

At the table:

Lu Barnes, Seattle Reign Legend
Rosie White, New Zealand Olympian & World Cup Icon
Jen Barnes, Founder & CEO, Rough & Tumble, Seattle’s home for women’s spots
Moderated by April Putney, Chief Strategy Officer, FIFA World Cup 2026

What we'll get into:

What Seattle gets right about women's sports, what it's missing, and what our panel would change first
What actually gets girls into sports, and what keeps them playing
What the 2027 World Cup means for the next chapter of the women's game
The stories behind the legends, and your chance to ask them anything

Seattle SCORES was born from the 1994 FIFA World Cup. Three decades later, our poet-athletes are proof of what soccer, poetry, and service can build: stronger minds, healthier bodies, and kids who believe they belong on the field. Join us to celebrate them and the future they're stepping into.

Free to attend. Seats are limited. Reserve yours early, before they're gone.
Donations are welcome and help keep Seattle SCORES free for every poet-athlete.

About The SCORES Network

SCORES began in 1994 when teacher Julie Kennedy combined her passions for soccer and poetry to provide safe after-school activities in Washington, D.C. The model quickly spread, and by 2002, Seattle SCORES (formerly America SCORES Seattle) was established. Today, over 360 youth in Seattle and 25,000 across North America benefit from our programs annually.

SOCCER builds teamwork, sportsmanship, and discipline, creating lifelong communities.

POETRY encourages creative expression and emotional health, empowering youth to champion their communities.

SERVICE LEARNING fosters compassion, social responsibility, and leadership through community projects.

POET-ATHLETE is someone who nurtures their mind, body, and community through poetry, soccer, and service.

SCORES provides safe spaces for children to find their voice, empowering them to grow into a physically and emotionally healthy adult. To learn more about what we do, visit our website at https://www.seattlescores.org/
