This Giving Tuesday, your generosity powers Seatuck's work to reconnect our island's rivers and bring vital habitats back to life.

Across the country, river restoration is gaining momentum. According to American Rivers, communities across 27 states removed 108 outdated dams in 2024 alone, reconnecting more than 2,500 river miles. These efforts create real and measurable impact: healthier fish populations, improved public safety, restored sediment flow, and new opportunities for recreation.

Whether barriers are removed or fail naturally (as was the case with Long Island's West Brook and Stump Pond dams), rivers respond quickly. In the time since the West Brook and Stump Pond dam failures, the Connetquot and Nissequogue rivers have become healthier, more resilient, and better able to support a variety of species.
