SOW Theme: Your Compass - The Prayer Retreat

During this unique out-of-town weekend retreat, we invite you to evaluate your relationship with one of the five pillars of Islam, Salah/Prayer. As humans, we can all relate to the feeling that our Salah can become a mundane part of our daily routine, a mindless action from time to time. This retreat serves as your opportunity to reflect deeply on the words of Salah from the first Allahu Akbar to the last Salam with a focus on Surat Al-Fatiha to strengthen your connection with Allah (swt) and allow your prayer to be the ultimate compass for navigating life.

The last three surahs of the Quran otherwise referred to as "The Seal" are integral to this weekend’s discussion. In addition, there will be time set apart for dhikr and meditation, camp fire w/ s'mores, and a choice of additional activities.

Each Seeds of Wisdom Retreat explores select surahs from the 30th part of the Holy Quran. Together, we will uncover Quranic insights on identity, justice, and community-building, and reflect on the transformative power of its teachings in addressing the injustices of our time.

Backed by 30+ years of teaching experience, Dr. Nadia Katrangi, Good Tree Chairman and head instructor, leads the group in an engaging, interactive style group discussion. Referencing the Quran from a linguistic, scholarly, and historical perspective, each retreat has an overarching objective to highlight the relevance of the Quran in the context of current times.
