A True Icon, An Erased History: The Journey to D.C.

Our Mission: From Corporate Exploitation to Tribal Integrity
Chief John Two Guns White Calf (1872–1934) was the last traditional chief of the Pikani Blackfoot. A fierce, lifetime advocate for indigenous sovereignty, his unmistakable profile became a universal symbol of Native strength—immortalized on the 1913 U.S. Indian Head Nickel and later used as the foundation for Washington's historic football logo.

While the image was brought to the franchise under the guise of tribal pride, the likeness was wrongfully taken directly from our family without consent. For nearly 50 years, our ancestor’s face represented vital indigenous visibility on a national stage. When the logo was retired in 2020, his face was completely erased from culture without ever consulting his living descendants.

We are not a mascot. We are a living family, and we refuse to let his legacy be quietly put away.

Why We Are Going to Washington, D.C.
This November, an 8-person delegation from the Chief Two Guns White Calf Estate is traveling directly to Washington, D.C. Our mission has shifted to a powerful, grassroots educational focus:

Official Sit-Down with the Commanders: We are hosting a historic, direct meeting with the franchise leadership to discuss the rightful restoration, recognition, and integrity of Chief Two Guns White Calf’s image.
Community Building & Bonding: Bringing local and regional indigenous coalitions together to unify our collective voices around proper cultural preservation.
Public Education Workshops: Hosting open community workshops to educate the general public on the real history of the Pikani Blackfoot and the importance of accurate native representation.
