A Seat at the Holiday Table

Honoring Our Elders. Empowering Our Youth. Strengthening Our Community.

This holiday season, help Silent Voices United Inc. give 500 seniors a seat at the table.

For many of us, Thanksgiving and Christmas mean gathering around a table with family, sharing a good meal, laughing, listening to music, and simply enjoying one another.

But for some of our seniors, the holidays can look very different.

Some live alone. Some are on fixed incomes. Some have lost spouses, relatives, and longtime friends. And during a season centered around togetherness, loneliness and isolation can feel even greater.

Silent Voices United Inc. wants our seniors to know one thing: You are not forgotten.

🍂 Thanksgiving + 🎄 Christmas: 500 Seniors, Two Holiday Celebrations

This holiday season, Silent Voices United Inc. is planning two elegant Senior Holiday Dine-In Cinema celebrations at The Apollo Stages at The Victoria, 233 West 125th Street in Harlem:

Pre-Thanksgiving Senior Dine-In Cinema
Christmas Senior Dine-In Cinema

Together, our goal is to welcome and serve 500 seniors, ages 62 and older, completely free of charge.

Last year, we proudly served 250 seniors. This year, we want to double that impact.

But we can't do it alone.

🍽️ More Than Dinner—A Holiday Experience

From the moment our seniors walk through the doors, we want them to feel like honored guests.

We're creating an elegant sit-down holiday experience filled with warmth, dignity, laughter, entertainment, and fellowship.

Our seniors will enjoy a holiday dinner, live jazz, Bingo, light exercise and wellness activities, a holiday movie, gifts, community resources, and plenty of opportunities to socialize and celebrate together.

And when the celebration ends, we want the spirit of the holiday to follow them home.

Our goal is to provide each senior with a Holiday Dinner for Two: A Gift of Gratitude bag containing donated food and ingredients they can use to prepare another holiday meal at home, based on confirmed donations.

❤️ Our Youth Will Serve the Generation That Came Before Them

One of the most meaningful parts of this program happens between generations.

Young people from our youth programs will help welcome our senior guests and, under adult supervision, assist with table service, meals, gifts, holiday bags, and hospitality throughout the celebration.

Imagine a young person pulling out a chair for an elder.

Serving their dinner.

Listening to their stories.

Sharing a laugh.

And simply saying, “Today, we're here to serve you.”

These moments matter.

Our young people gain real-world experience in leadership, communication, teamwork, responsibility, customer service, and professional hospitality, while our seniors have an opportunity to connect with a younger generation.

Sponsor-supported youth stipends will also recognize young people for the time, work, and care they contribute to making these celebrations possible.

💛 Help Us Set the Table for 500 Seniors

Every donation—large or small—helps us get closer to our goal.

Your support can help provide holiday meals and beverages, entertainment, senior gifts, take-home food, youth stipends, decorations, hospitality supplies, venue and event expenses, wellness activities, and other program needs.

Businesses, foundations, community organizations, and individuals are also invited to become sponsors or in-kind partners.

You aren't simply helping us put on an event.

You're helping us pull out a chair.
Set another place at the table.
Serve another meal.
Create another smile.
And remind another senior that Harlem remembers them.

Our elders helped build the communities we enjoy today. They raised families, opened businesses, worked, worshipped, organized, volunteered, mentored, sacrificed, and paved the way for generations that followed.

Now it's our turn to serve them.

For the Givebutter page, I’d place “Help Us Set the Table for 500 Seniors” immediately above the donation button—it turns the donation ask into a direct connection between the donor and the senior receiving the experience.
